Sweden Ski Tour takes you on a cross-country forest hike. You and your guide will traverse the wooden and dense snow-covered landscape. On the Sweden Ski Tour, you can take in pure nature and the rugged beauty of the Muddus National Park. If you are up to it, you can reach a distance of 5 and 12 kilometers daily on foot. The journey, of course, will depend on the capabilities of you the traveler, the depth of the snow, and climatic conditions.

An area of pure innate beauty in the province Lappland, Muddus National Park is an important natural heritage site and is included in the Laponia World Heritage area.

The coveted European Diploma for Nature Conservation was recently bestowed upon the locale.

Sweden Ski Tour is suitable for nature and landscape photographers, hikers, and wildlife enthusiasts. The park spans 500-square-kilometers, primarily comprising lowland area and is an ancient pine forest with large golden-yellow marshes during the season of autumn.

Known for its copious array of birds, in particular the whopper swan, the wetlands and Muddusjaure Lake offer the best areas for bird watching. Wildlife in the Muddus National Park includes the lynx, bears, the reindeer, the moose, the red fox, and the arctic fox (protected species).

Depending on moonlight availability, Sweden Ski Tour can also be personalized to include nighttime excursions, which may include skiing under the Northern Lights (Aurora borealis). A spectacular display of swirling lights that flickers across the night skies. Northern Lights is one of the most spectacular natural occurrences in the world.

During the Sweden Ski Tour, we suggest that in order for you to experience Northern Lights at its utmost best is to stay in a wilderness resort, log cabin, or glass igloo. These types of accommodations considerably increase your chances of seeing this astounding natural spectacle. The is because they are strategically positioned a great distance away from any artificial gleaming lights sources that may be distracting at nights. In a thermal glass igloo, you can be lying in your bed and be gazing up on the vividly glimmering night sky.

Wintertime in the Swedish Lapland is magical. Besides the snow-covered landscape, winter activities abound. During this time is when you can see the Northern Lights (Aurora borealis). The winter season is the busiest time of year in Sweden when tourists flock to the region in larger numbers. And so, we recommend that you book your accommodation and activities well in advance prior to the date of your trip. Contact us at L' EcoResorts for information about your holiday in Sweden.

  • The Northern Lights appear around the beginning of September (Kiruna) to around the end of March all over Swedish Lapland. So if you are here for winter activities such as skiing, dog sledding, snowmobile tours etc there’s a fair chance you will see them. If you are lucky you might even see them in Kiruna and Luleå, the two last outposts of civilization up here.
  • But for the very best chance of seeing the Northern Lights you should make the trip to the Aurora Sky Station in Abisko National Park. It is not guaranteed that you will see them though, this is nature we are talking about and it is unpredictable. - Visit Sweden
