Champagne Organic Winery Tour and Biking Expedition is a naturalist advised self-guided tour, which takes travelers through historical situates and to eco vineyards and wineries in Champagne, France.

Champagne is located a mere 90 miles north of Paris. Since the 9th century, Champagne has been hailed as one of the greatest wine-making regions in France. Most notably, Champagne is known for its sparkling or fizz wines. While Champagne is celebrated for it sparkling wines not all sparkling wine is from Champagne. This depends on the region where the particular wine was produced.

Dom Pérignon played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the technique that produce the popular white wine, Champagne.

On the Champagne Organic Winery Tour, you will visit vineyards and learn more about the man (Dom Pérignon. French monk) and his techniques.

Although Champagne is known around the world, its region outside of the vineyards is relatively unexplored.  The Champagne Organic Winery Tour and Biking Excursion was designed to give travelers an opportunity to discover this region in its entirety.

As the tour’s name suggests, you will be visiting biodynamic and organic wine vineyards.

“Biodynamics is a spiritual-ethical-ecological approach to agriculture, gardens, food production and nutrition. Biodynamic farmers strive to create a diversified, balanced farm ecosystem that generates health and fertility as much as possible from within the farm itself. Preparations made from fermented manure, minerals and herbs are used to help restore and harmonize the vital life forces of the farm and to enhance the nutrition, quality and flavor of the food being raised. Biodynamic practitioners also recognize and strive to work in cooperation with the subtle influences of the wider cosmos on soil, plant and animal health.” – Biodynamic Association.

By bike, you will traverse steep and hilly landscapes. Champagne Organic Winery Tour covers the following locales, where you will sample Champagne’s three best known wine types:

  • Château-Thierry *Pinot Meunier
  • Dormans/Epernay/Marne valley *Pinot Noir
  • Reims Mountains *Chardonnay

*  wine type

The Champagne Organic Winery Tour winds downwards with detours to paths that go off the main routes. These areas offer naturally beautiful landscapes with views, including garden and historic fortresses.

Spring and summer in Champagne offer much opportunities for outdoor adventures such as bike tours and hiking.
