Sea turtles come to lay their eggs each year on Moyo’s beaches, from December through to April. The local villagers, in the past, had sold the turtles eggs to markets but at the resort, we try to deter this behavior by allocating a set amount of monies to the said villagers for the eggs, which we then return to the protected shores, overseeing the eggs until they are hatched 60 days later.
We have adopted an innovative process for bringing back the coral reef. The method includes placing an iron frame on the sea bed and charging it with low voltage current. This procedure strengthens the species, and stimulates their growth.
The resort is involved in a number of community initiatives. Such as raising funds to build a school in Labuan Aji village. Once the school is complete, the children will receive a better education. The resort 2 dive instructors will conduct regular lessons on the importance of protecting the environment, which will educate a new generation on the benefits of conservation.
