THE RANCH FEE
All accommodations are subject to a 20% Ranch Fee based on the total reservation amount. The Ranch Fee includes the following costs and services:
You will experience awe-inspiring views from The Top of the World on horseback and drift off in a bespoke glamping tent under the Big Sky. Located in the heart of Western Montana, The Ranch at Rock Creek is the world’s only Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star ranch and the only National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World in the United States. Owner Jim Manley searched the American West for 20 years to find the perfect ranch. Originally a working ranch homesteaded in the early 1900’s, he opened it as an all-inclusive guest ranch in 2010. As a Relais & Chateaux property, we’ve spent the last five years expanding the frontiers of luxury travel with our one-of-a-kind accommodations, extensive amenities, inventive cuisine and access to over 20 guided outdoor activities on 6,600 acres of mountains, meadows, forests, trout ponds and a mountain-fed creek.
The Granite Lodge at our Montana Dude Ranch.
The Granite Lodge’s nine ranch accommodations weave luxury, style and authenticity into your Montana adventure. Appointed with custom-made furniture, woven textiles, frontier antiques and lavish linens, our Granite Lodge rooms find design inspiration in iconic western themes, such as the great turn of the century railroad hotels and the classic guns that helped win the West.
No two rooms are alike, although most upper-level rooms offer views of the Rock Creek valley. Some rooms may be combined to form a two-bedroom family suite that includes twin beds and pull-outs.
Historic Barn at our Montana Dude Ranch.
Our remodeled 19th-century barn houses an important piece of Ranch at Rock Creek history. Often billed as “rustic,” a barn was actually the original rural luxury. It cost more than a home and stored a ranch’s wealth, in the form of livestock, equipment and feed.
Luxury Homes at our Montana Dude Ranch.
Seven homes and cottages comprises the luxury home collection, including BlueBird, Eagle’s Perch, Cattail Cabin, Sarah Jane’s Cottage, Moose House, Bear House, and Ponderosa.
Bluebird is a whimsical and well-appointed one-bedroom cabin, ideal for a couple or small family. Whether you’re looking for a unique romantic vacation or a honeymoon in Montana, this accommodation offers privacy, space and some truly remarkable amenities.
Eagle’s Perch is a two-story luxury home with views of native grasslands and wildflower meadows. With a keen eye, you may be able to spot Rock Creek’s resident eagles, hawks or osprey in the nearby trees or catch a whiff of Chef Drage’s seasonal inspiration in his fragrant herb garden, located just outside the home.
Cattail Cabin sits across from the Granite Lodge in a breathtaking location overlooking the valley and its hillsides. The front porch faces Bikini Beach, dense with its namesake cattail plants in the summer or crystalized into an ice skating pond each winter.
Sara Jane’s Cottage
Sara Jane’s Cottage is a two-level luxury home inspired by Sara Jane, the daughter of manager Grover Bowles, who helped run the Ranch in the 1940s. It occupies a prime ranch location, across from the Granite Lodge and the swimming pool area and with direct access to hillside hiking trails.
Moose House is a three-bedroom home tucked away in a secluded hillside setting, befitting its namesake animals that retreat to peaceful surroundings. Overlooking Rock Creek and the Granite Lodge, guests may feel it is more home away from home or private ski chalet than Montana luxury resort.
Bear House is an accommodation you won’t find at other luxury resorts in Montana. Taking a bold cue from our state animal, the living spaces feature authentic ranch accents, like leather chairs, fresh flowers, a stone fireplace and traditional pottery.
Named for the most abundant tree in the West, the stately and beautiful Ponderosa Pine, the three-bedroom Ponderosa House is nestled near Bikini Beach, just across from the Granite Lodge. Enjoy wide-open spaces inside and out. The spacious living area features a comfortable living room with a wood-burning fireplace and a full kitchen. At the back of the house, there is a large screened porch with a second fireplace.
Glamping Cabins at our Montana dude ranch.
Classic Canvas Cabins
Seasoned travelers will delight in bespoke glamping tents, created to provide guests comfort and inspiration from Montana’s natural surroundings. With spacious bedrooms and additional living space, each cabin is individually furnished in a rustic camp style, featuring luxurious bedding, Western textiles and antique furniture.
Family Canvas Cabins
Immerse your family in nature by staying in one of our four Family Canvas Cabins on the banks of Rock Creek. The setting, close to Camp Roosevelt and the Rodeo Arena, inspires unique family vacations and memories. The cabins are distinctly furnished in a rustic camp style, featuring private baths, luxurious bedding and the murmur of the creek running just outside your front door.
Classic Canvas Cabins
Tucked away on the banks of Rock Creek is Trapper, an idyllic romance cabin. This accommodation boasts innovative design, comprised of canvas, wood and stone with in-floor hydronic heat to keep it cozy all-year round. It is our most popular anniversary and honeymoon cabin, thanks in part to it’s off-set location and excellent stargazing from the custom outdoor soaking tub. Rest well after a day of ranch adventures in your king bed, adjacent to a gas stove and comfortable sitting area.
Sweet Grass Cabin
Named after the aromatic mountain plant, Sweet Grass is our most spacious and lavish glamping tent. It is ideal for families or two couples, with two master suites, connected by a main living area. Each master suite is appointed with a king bed, a claw foot bathtub, a private full bath and a gas stove. The master suites can accommodate additional guests, one with a day bed and the other with a queen pull-out.
The operators of the ranch make it a point to use in its hotel and restaurant locally (or regionally) sourced products such as organic foods by American growers and producers and eco-friendly cleaning supplies: soaps and shampoos.
Through their work to preserve cultural heritage in the nearby Philipsburg, the ranch operators support the historic opera house, centers and hospital, and numerous community initiatives.
The ranch is noted for hosting a prom dinner for students.
