This Kispiox Valley Lodge in British Columbia, Canada, is a Proud Recipient of the Green Tourism Certification.

A 15,000 square foot post-and-beam luxury resort located on the world-famous Kispiox River, the lodge is sited just 1.5 hours drive north of Smithers.

Gorgeous 22 foot carved First Nations totem poles welcome you as you enter the foyer, set behind the massive, three-story river rock fireplace.

Snow-capped Baldy Mountain dominates the view from the dining room windows, a favorite destination for heliskiers at the Kispiox Valley Lodge, just eight minutes by air.

For fishermen/fisherwomen, the Kispiox River is renowned for being home to the largest strain of wild steelhead. At the Kispiox Valley Lodge, we are proud of our local art collection, including several pieces from world renowned Gitksan artist, Roy Vickers. We like to think the beauty of our art and the outdoors carries through to our interior design.

Bedroom sliding glass doors open to a stone walk balcony overlooking the Kispiox River. An outdoor, handcrafted cedar sauna is just steps away, and the scent of cedar and fresh homemade bread drifts through the lodge.

With eight custom designed bedrooms with private ensuites and plenty of spaces to gather and read, chat and enjoy the scenery, the lodge’s location is the perfect location for eco-adventure, wilderness getaways, weddings, corporate retreats, and the new family Eco-Wild conservation camps that we host.

The Kispiox Valley Lodge is the base for exploring one of northwest British Columbia’s most stunning mountain valleys, Kispiox (pronounced: kiss-pee-ox) Valley. Imagine a valley where one of the world’s largest strain of wild steelhead salmon spawns in pristine mountain fresh streams, and grizzly and black bear trample paths in the mossy forest floor. This is a place where mountain goats scale the craggy flanks of snow capped peaks, and the call of the wolf echoes through old growth forests.

The valley is home to ancient village sites and trails that hearken to a time before European contact, when the Gitskan people traveled and traded throughout this bountiful region. Historic ranches and homesteads are a living testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of early settlers.

The lodge is surrounded by mountains. And is the preferred lodge for fishermen and heli-skiers from around the world for more than ten years. In 2014, our lodge expanded to opening into the late spring and summer months with a variety of outdoor experiences, including our popular eco-wild camps. The camps target summer guests and families interested in sustainable, remote, eco-luxury experiences.

At our Kispiox Valley Lodge "Bear Claw Lodge", we works with community associations and environmental groups to keep the valley pristine, and protect the local wildlife.

At the lodge, we have bees, and a large garden that sustains the residents during summer and fall.

Solar power is used.

And there is a recycling system in place at our lodge.

At our Kispiox Valley Lodge "Bear Claw Lodge", we have in place a conservation program (camp) that teaches kids about sustainability and conservation.

Each year, a local First Nations youth is sponsored through our program at the lodge to attend our camp.

Our team at the lodge, we work with First Nations to help build cabins on their hereditary territories, which creates many benefits for this indigenous group's community.
