Whether you are on a romantic honeymoon, or taking the family for the trip of a lifetime, you will be fully immersed in the experience and feel of this unique tropical paradise while staying in our luxurious, Drake Bay Eco Resort. Our team is fully committed to ensuring that your stay with us not only meets but exceeds all of your expectations.
A rainforest retreat, this Drake Bay Eco Resort is also an eco-luxury beachfront resort set among 70 acres of pristine rainforest reserve. The resort is located in Southern Pacific Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula, perfectly situated between Drake Bay and the Corcovado National Park in an area known as “Caletas” (small coves). Operated by the same owners, and on the same site, of what was formerly the Drake Bay Treetop Resort, Copa De Arbol features 11 luxury cabinas, restaurant and full bar of all new construction. This area of the Osa Peninsula is accessible by boat only and is one of the most remote and untouched places on Costa Rica’s entire Pacific coastline. You will enjoy much acreage of pristine rainforest, spectacular beaches and endless rivers near Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica.
Nestled amongst the trees, each cabina blends seamlessly into the natural backdrop. Constructed using recycled materials and reforested wood such as teak, cypress and melina; all of our Drake Bay Eco Resort accommodations feature ocean and rainforest views. They feature balconies with seating areas, pillow-top orthopedic mattresses, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and tiled bathrooms with walk-in showers. You’ll be within 100 yards from Rio Claro Beach, with the rhythmic sounds of the ocean and rainforest to lull you to sleep.
Located on the pacific side of southern Costa Rica, the 300,000 acre Osa Peninsula is home to the largest and most significant tract of untouched, coastal tropical rainforest in Central America, and the core of Costa Rica’s national park system – the Corcovado National Park and Isla Del Cano biological reserve. This remote and secluded area of the peninsula is known worldwide as a top destination for nature researchers, conservationists and those seeking tranquility and nature as well as ocean and rainforest adventures.
At this Drake Bay Eco Resort, you will be catered to by bi-lingual guides and a professional staff.
A portion of our profits will be donated to conservation programs, and towards providing an on-site research base for marine biologists and other researchers in areas of study specific to this region. In our quest to provide a new model of interactivity, not only will this afford our guests the opportunity to donate and participate in programs of their choice, the research base will also serve as a teaching lab, fostering educational opportunities for the local population with an eye towards preserving the biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula.
The lodge’s application is pending for participating in the Certification for Sustainable Tourism Program, a project of the Costa Rican Tourism Board, which certifies tourism businesses based on the degree to which they comply with a sustainable model of natural, cultural and social resource management.
From our humble beginnings as a 4-room rainforest hideaway, to our newly constructed Drake Bay Eco Resort, we have lived on this property for 20 years, building a strong knowledge and understanding of the area and the challenges it faces, and we are fully committed to a holistic approach in the way we interact with our staff, the community and the environment.
Our holistic approach extends to our family of staff, many of whom helped us build the new Drake Bay Eco Resort, and with whom we have worked for many years. In addition to providing jobs with opportunity for growth and education, and a profit-sharing program, we wish to nurture and provide an outlet for their outside interests and activities. Where possible and appropriate, we will include these activities as enhancements for travelers, providing rewarding and satisfying opportunities and experiences for all. And finally, we hope to leave our clients with memorable experiences and enthusiasm for the natural wonder of the Osa Peninsula and planet earth.
