Churchill Wild Lodge. A recent inclusion in the prestigious National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, Seal River Heritage Lodge is located 60 km and 30 minutes north of Churchill by plane, deep in the heart of polar bear territory.

Our Churchill Wild Lodge offers the only remote fly-in lodge on the planet where you can walk with polar bears, and have dinner with them too!

Far from the madding crowds of Churchill, Canada, yet only a short plane ride away, you’ll feel like you’re in another world.

Ideally situated on the shores of Hudson Bay near the Seal River estuary, where thousands of beluga whales gather every summer, our Churchill Wild Lodge is home to our Birds, Bears and Belugas adventure, a Canadian Signature Experience that takes place in July and August, as well as to our Polar Bear Photo Safari in October and November and our Arctic Safari in September

Our Churchill Wild Lodge maximizes ground-level polar bear and wildlife viewing and offers spectacular coastal views of Hudson Bay via nature trails, a lodge viewing tower and expansive picture windows.

Whether you’re hiking, dining, or relaxing at our Churchill Wild Lodge, you will be able to observe polar bears and other wildlife in a way that very few people ever experience.

Inspired by a love for creating and eating fabulous food, the whole family is in on the act. With a particular focus on local foods and a respect for our proximity to the nearest grocery superstores and gourmet food stores, what we create for you on a daily basis will thrill you almost as much as the wildlife. For some, arguably, even more.

We’ve now combined the expertise of our self-taught chefs with that of our Executive Chef who is a Certified Red Seal Chef, and has been on the Manitoba Culinary Competitive Team as well as a member of the team selected to cook for the Queen of England’s visit to Manitoba.

At our Churchill Wild Lodge (Seal River Heritage), we have developed a minimalist approach to luxury eco-lodging on the coast of Hudson Bay. Over the years, we have implemented the following systems and procedures at our Lodges in order to minimize our footprint:

  • A grey-water recycling system
  • Using local lumber and recycled materials in the construction of our lodges
  • Using solar energy to reduce our consumption of diesel fuel by 75%
  • Strict recycling and composting policies – any waste that cannot be recycled or composted is taken back to town and disposed of properly
  • Using only biodegradable cleaning products and in-room toiletries
  • Very minimal use of motorized vehicles; our activities are centered on people-power!
  • A commitment to using locally foraged and harvested foods whenever possible Energy efficient appliances and lights
