On Sopwell House, a 4-star eco-luxury hotel nestled in 12 acres of tranquil gardens in Hertfordshire, England, Candice Marie Litchfield said ‘Personally, I can only truly enjoy ‘luxury’ if I know I’m enjoying high-end services and goods that are gentle to the planet. I think this is the main reason why I enjoyed staying at Sopwell House.‘
Candice brought up a valid point in the piece first published online by Eluxe Magazine.
In fact, luxury and eco-friendliness can go together. Staying in an eco-hotel does not means that one has to sacrifice fine attributes while on holiday.
Sopwell has WI-FI internet, flat screen TV, conference hall, restaurant and bar, wedding facility, Art Deco-inspired swimming, fitness room, steam room, aerobic studio, and 129 bedrooms and suites. And employ executive chefs, laundry attendants, and beauticians to care for their guests.
At the hotel, the shampoos, conditioners, soaps, body wash, and all cleaning products are made from natural ingredients and are organic products.
The hotel uses energy efficient light bulbs throughout the property.
‘In keeping with the green theme of the hotel, bed linens were only replaced every third day as standard (or less if requested), those organic toiletries were only replaced as required, and all rooms are kitted out with energy efficient light bulbs.‘ – Candice Marie Litchfield
Food and drinks are a huge part of the culture at Sopwell House. Candice explained that the ingredients are locally sourced so as to lower transportation and pollution impact on the environment. The meals served are hearty, delicious, and may include vegan and vegetarian dishes as per guests’ request.
Sopwell House is located deep in the Hertfordshire countryside, but in close proximity to London. The resort is appreciated for being in a serene and natural atmosphere. On 12 acres of lush garden estate, guests are bound to find the ultimate retreat here. The rolling landscape allows for leisure walking and cycling.
